  • Hormonal changes
  • Stress
  • Neck tension
  • Jaw tension

  • What you drink
  • Too much or too little sleep
  • Sports injuries, such as concussion
  • Auto accident injuries

Many Types of Headaches

Did you know there are more than 150 types of headaches? These are divided into three categories: primary headaches, secondary headaches and other headaches. Common types of headaches are those due to stress and tension.

Many people don’t realize their muscle tension can give them a headache that feels like there’s a tight band around their head. A headache that originates from the neck is called a cervicogenic headache, and can cause shooting pain around the head. TMJ headaches commonly present in the temples and cause throbbing pain. Because different types of headaches (i.e. muscle tension or cervicogenic headache) can lead to a migraine, it’s important to catch the headache early with adjustments.

Our Clinic’s Multi-Pronged Approach

Patients of all ages are getting fantastic results and no longer need to take medication for their headaches or migraines. One of the ways we’re helping them is by giving adjustments in the neck, jaw and back. (A lot of people don’t know their jaws can be adjusted, as can all the extremities.)

In addition to chiropractic care, we provide patients with neck strengthening exercises, and stretches for neck or mid back tightness. Our chiropractors also offer home care advice and provide meditation or mindfulness handouts to help patients manage stress.
